2026 Kia EV9 in the Tri-Cities: 3-row electric range, charging, and who it fits
Last updated Oct 19, 2026
Specs note: Range, tow ratings, and charge times vary by trim, wheels, weather, and options. Confirm the window sticker, kia.com, and fueleconomy.gov for the VIN on the lot. Some Media figures are manufacturer estimates until EPA posts. I won’t invent miles.
Model year: This guide covers the 2026 EV9, the current model year per Kia Media’s pricing release (May 27, 2025) and kia.com/us/en/ev9. It’s not a preview of a future model.
Quick answer
The 2026 Kia EV9 is a current three-row electric family SUV. It fits when charging at home, or reliable daytime charging, is realistic for you. If overnight plugging isn’t a sure thing, a gas or Hybrid Telluride or a Carnival may fit better. Check towing and range on the sticker, see what’s here, then book a drive in Pasco.
Who it fits
It’s for families who need three rows and want an all-electric week, with Level 2 at home (or reliable work charging) as the plan, not a hope. It works best when most miles stay in the Basin and longer trips are planned. Weighing a Telluride, Carnival, or another three-row EV? Come sit in one.
Not the first pick if: you don’t have a reliable plug overnight, your apartment or HOA blocks charging, or you want maximum towing and road-trip simplicity without keeping an eye on your charge. Then start with Telluride vs Highlander or Carnival vs Telluride.
Hey, I’m Rick G. at Overturf KIA in Pasco. Families ask me about the EV9 every week. It’s Kia’s current 2026 three-row electric SUV (per Kia Media and kia.com), not a concept. The real question is whether charging fits your life in Pasco, Kennewick, or Richland, and then whether its third row and cargo beat a Telluride or Carnival for your weekends.
What the 2026 EV9 brings (the sticker still wins)
For 2026, Kia Media lists the same three-row EV setup, with trims from Light SR and Light LR to Wind, Land, and GT-Line, plus an available Nightfall Edition on the Land. Some trims list manufacturer-estimated range that Kia Media says isn’t official EPA yet, so check the window sticker for the VIN you drive. Per Kia Media, Terrain Mode (Snow/Mud/Sand) replaces the old 4WD label on AWD trims. Try the modes on a damp lot.
I won’t post made-up range charts. Cold Basin mornings, highway speed, and cabin heat all change your real miles.
Charging the EV9 around here
For most families buying an EV9 here, home Level 2 is the real plan. Charging overnight beats hunting for a plug with kids in the third row.
Public fast charging is out there, but it’s thinner than in Seattle or Portland, so you can’t count on charging anywhere, anytime. Use apps and a buffer on I-82, US-395, or mountain trips.
Range drops in our winters. That’s normal. Leave some margin, and warm the car up while it’s plugged in when you can.
No reliable plug at your apartment, HOA, or street spot? Don’t force an EV9. Look at the Telluride, the Carnival, or a hybrid crossover.
Want some electric driving without depending on chargers? The Sportage and Sorento PHEV guides cover that, and those are a different kind of vehicle.
I won’t make up charger counts or kW rates. See also overturfkia.com, and check any network in its app.
We’ll talk through your charging plan on the lot after a drive, not as a quote over text.
EV9, Telluride, or Carnival?
The EV9 gives you three rows of electric space and quiet power, if charging is solved.
The Telluride is the go-to gas family SUV for a lot of local households, with a Hybrid in some model years.
The Carnival is the sliding-door people mover for when school lines and minivan practicality win.
Proof, not trash talk: if you love the EV9’s cabin but dread plugging in, buy for the life you already live. They’re all under one roof in Pasco, so we can sit in a Telluride, Carnival, and EV9 on the same visit when they’re here.
If you don’t need three rows, also see the EV6 buyers guide.
Around the Tri-Cities and beyond
Around Pasco, think school runs, sports bags, and grandparents in the third row. Try the seat folds with your own gear, not brochure boxes.
Yakima, Spokane, and Pendleton days are planned EV trips. Public fast charging is a tool, and home Level 2 is the plan.
For Hwy 240 and Hanford households, if one driver can charge at work and the other can’t, map out your real week before you commit.
In Columbia Basin winters, cold, cabin heat, and speed all eat into range. AWD and the Terrain modes help your confidence, but tires still decide icy mornings.
Cross-shop = proof, not trash talk
Looking at other three-row EVs, or used to a gas Telluride or Carnival? Compare the others on paper, then drive the EV9 here. It brings a usable third row and quiet highway manners, if home charging works for you. I won’t knock anyone’s charging network. I’ll get you seat time and a straight plug talk.
What to compare on a Pasco EV9 drive
See if adults fit the third row or it’s a kids’ seat for you. Load sports gear behind it. Watch the grandparents get in and out. Feel the regen with a full cabin. Then let’s talk about your home panel, Level 2, or apartment.

Washington incentives (checked Oct 2, 2026): Washington’s sales and use tax exemption for clean-fuel vehicles ended July 31, 2025 (WA DOL), and the state EV Instant Rebate program is closed (WA Commerce). The federal 30D credit isn’t available for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025 (IRS). Locally, Benton PUD lists a $250 rebate for a new all-electric vehicle (no gas engine, so plug-in hybrids don’t qualify) plus $20 for a qualifying Level 2 charger, and Richland Energy Services offers $300 for an Energy Star Level 2 smart charger. I found no EV rebate listed by Franklin PUD. Programs change, so confirm with your utility before you buy.
Checked Oct 2, 2026: EPA figures against fueleconomy.gov; Kia specs and prices against Kia Media and kia.com. Competitor figures are typical published numbers; confirm them on the brand’s site. Always confirm the window sticker for the VIN you drive.
FAQs
What model year is the EV9 you’re talking about?
2026, the current model year per Kia Media and kia.com. Check the window sticker on the one you drive. If there are any leftover earlier-year EV9s, we’ll check those stickers too.
Is EV9 better than a Telluride for my family?
It’s better if charging fits your life and you want electric. The Telluride still wins for a lot of families who won’t plug in. Try both on the same visit when we have them.
Can I rely on public charging with kids?
As a backup and for planned trips, yes, with apps and some patience. As your main plan around here, I won’t sell you that. Home Level 2 comes first.
Can you text me a payment?
