2027 Kia Telluride Hybrid in the Tri-Cities: MPG, price, and who it fits

Specs note: Figures vary by year, trim, and options. Confirm the window sticker and kia.com for the VIN on the lot.
Quick answer
The first Telluride Hybrid sold in the U.S. is the 2027 Telluride HEV. There isn’t a 2026 Hybrid. Lean Hybrid if you want no-plug mileage for Hwy 240 and I-182 weeks in a three-row SUV. Lean gas Telluride if you want the simplest ownership, or you need something the Hybrid doesn’t offer. Check the sticker, then book a drive in Pasco.
Who it fits
It’s for families who want a three-row SUV with self-charging hybrid mileage and no plug, including folks already set on a gas Telluride and wondering if the Hybrid is worth the step up. It also fits drivers weighing a Highlander Hybrid who want proof, like the warranty, the cabin, and a real drive, instead of badge bashing. If you keep all three rows up for car seats and still need room for Costco or sports bags, it’s worth a look. Coming from Prosser, Hermiston, or Walla Walla? It’s an easy same-day Pasco trip.
Not the first pick if: you want a plug-in with electric range, or you’ve already settled on a Highlander Hybrid and won’t sit in a Telluride. Even then, one Kia drive clears up the space and warranty question.
Looking for a Telluride Hybrid for school runs, Costco, Hwy 240 and Hanford weeks, or a Yakima or Spokane day? You’ve probably seen headlines that skip the model year. That’s how people end up waiting on a 2026 Hybrid that was never sold here.
Hey, I’m Rick G. at Overturf KIA in Pasco. Browse overturfkia.com as equipped. I’m not going to tease cars that don’t exist. I’ll tell you which model year is actually for sale, when the Hybrid beats the gas Telluride for your week, and how it stacks up against the Highlander Hybrid, with no trash talk.
Model year facts: the 2027 Telluride HEV is the first U.S. Hybrid
There’s no 2026 Telluride Hybrid sold in the U.S. The first one ever is the 2027 Telluride HEV, and IIHS lists a 2025 and a 2027 Telluride, with no 2026. Kia Media’s March 10, 2026 release says the gas 2027 Telluride was on sale and the Hybrid had started arriving in U.S. showrooms that month (Kia Media Telluride HEV overview). Check what’s on the Pasco lot as-equipped. I won’t make up a Hybrid VIN that isn’t here.

Hybrid or gas Telluride?
Lean Telluride Hybrid if: your week mixes Basin miles with Hwy 240 and I-182, and you want better mileage without plugging in. You still get the three-row SUV look, available AWD, and published towing when equipped. It’s also the one to drive first if you’re weighing a Highlander Hybrid.
Lean gas Telluride if: you want the simplest ownership, you need a trim or capability the Hybrid doesn’t offer on that VIN (check what’s here), or the Hybrid hasn’t arrived yet and you want a real feel for the cabin and cargo this week.
Check overturfkia.com, and pick Telluride Hybrid on the Book-a-drive form if that’s what you want. If the Hybrid isn’t here, I’ll be straight about timing, and you can still try the gas Telluride.
Leaning gas? My 2027 Telluride gas guide covers 7 vs 8 seats, towing and the X-Pro.
Why a no-plug hybrid works around here
A self-charging hybrid fits people who won’t install Level 2 but still put on real miles: Pasco to Richland loops, Hanford weeks on Hwy 240, Costco runs and sports bags, and the occasional Yakima or Spokane day. You fill it with gas, and the hybrid works in the background. That’s different from the Sportage or Sorento PHEV. Only go plug-in if you’ll plug in most days.
AWD helps, but tires decide. Check the drive type on the sticker. Basin frost doesn’t care about the badge.
Proof, not trash talk: vs Highlander Hybrid
The Highlander Hybrid has been around longer. The EPA rates the 2026 Highlander Hybrid AWD at 35 mpg combined (fueleconomy.gov), and Toyota rates it at 243 net hp. The Telluride HEV has more horsepower and torque (329 / 339, Kia Media), and the EX FWD lands in the same 35 combined range on EPA. Compare FWD to FWD and AWD to AWD on the stickers, not just the headlines.
| Coverage (typical U.S. framing) | Kia | Toyota |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | 5yr / 60k | 3yr / 36k |
| Powertrain | 10yr / 100k (original purchaser / CPO terms) | 5yr / 60k |
| Hybrid components | Confirm booklet | Hybrid battery 10yr / 150k; other hybrid parts 8yr / 100k (Toyota) |

For cabin and cargo, compare the Highlander’s numbers on paper, then sit in a Telluride here. See also Telluride vs Highlander Tri-Cities. If sliding doors might fit better, see Carnival vs Telluride.
Seeing the Telluride in Pasco
Check overturfkia.com for a Telluride or Telluride Hybrid as-equipped. Sit in the Hybrid when one’s here, or drive the gas Telluride to get a real feel for the cabin. Open the warranty booklet, not a forum thread. Then leave with a clear decision: Hybrid, gas, or keep shopping the Highlander.
On the drive, try the third row with car seats in, check the cargo with the seats up, and listen to how quiet it is on I-182 and Hwy 240. Compare the Hybrid and gas response if both are here, check the tires, and pair your phone.

FAQs
Is the Telluride Hybrid worth it over the gas Telluride?
It depends on how you drive. The EPA rates the 2027 Telluride Hybrid at 31 mpg combined with AWD, vs 20 for the gas Telluride with AWD. The trade-offs: the Hybrid seats 7 only, tows 4,500 lb instead of 5,000, and uses a 6-speed automatic instead of an 8-speed. Compare them on paper, then book a drive.

No. The first Telluride Hybrid sold in the U.S. is the 2027 Telluride HEV. Check what’s on the lot as-equipped.
Does Telluride Hybrid need a plug?
No. It charges itself. You fill it with gas, and you don’t need Level 2 for normal driving.
How does it compare to Highlander Hybrid on mpg?
Per the EPA, the Telluride HEV EX FWD is rated at 35 combined (AWD 31), and the 2026 Highlander Hybrid AWD is rated at 35 combined. Compare the stickers for the drive type you’ll buy.
Who wins on warranty?
Kia’s 10/100 powertrain coverage for original owners runs longer than Toyota’s published 5/60. Check the booklets and the hybrid parts coverage.
Can I get MSRP and current incentives by email before I visit?
Yes. Tell me the Telluride Hybrid trim you want, and I’ll email you Kia’s MSRP for it plus the incentives Kia is publishing right now. Incentives change, so I’ll put the date on the email. When you come in, I’ll write it up fresh on the lot with that day’s published incentives.
How do I check a Telluride Hybrid for recalls?
Check by VIN, the 17-character vehicle identification number. Enter it at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or look it up in Kia’s owners section on kia.com, and you’ll see any open safety recalls for that exact vehicle. Shopping for one? Ask me for the VIN and check it yourself before you visit.
